Dear GCHR family,
On behalf of the Georgia Council for Human Resources (GCHR), I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Chair. I want to send everyone a warm welcome to the 2022 year. The past two years has been challenging for all of us. COVID-19 and race relations in society have been traumatizing. We have lost so many people, but with love, hope, and lots of prayers, we have come together to make things better. Although I remain steadfast, I am reminded that we still have a long way to go. I lead and believe in the proverb that it takes a village.
This year I would like to take the time to get to know you and your needs to make our GCHR community stronger. The Executive Committee has many plans in store to make this an impactful year, but we want to hear from you. Please be on the lookout for an invitation to connect and schedule events for the upcoming year in the upcoming weeks. This process will begin with scheduling ongoing check-ins, workshops, planning sessions, and fun! I believe that all hard work needs to be rewarded with fun, and I plan to bring that energy to this role.
Equally as important, I am looking for an opportunity to provide resources for our HR community searching for guidance and support. As HR professionals, we have the power to inform, engage, and inspire to make transformational change in human resources. I believe this is a time for us to restructure norms.
Together let’s take advantage of this moment to network and as your 2022 Chair, I plan to bring vision, energy, and action to this role. Members are an essential component of the GCHR family, and together we can make this a special year.
With gratitude, April Harrison - 2022 GCHR Chair
I am honored and excited to be serving as the 2022 Chair-Elect for the Georgia Council for Human Resources (GCHR). We have gone from a time where we experienced lock downs that hurt many organizations, to the present where many organizations are adapting but find themselves unable to obtain employees in a current environment full of inflation and employee shortages. It is equally as important now, that we band together as one unified body, one state human capital community, advocating for policies that will address the challenges that we face today. Most importantly, we are here to connect all our members by increasing our unified strength in numbers and creating a collective genius in the human resources arena.
Our various committees, such as the Membership, Communications, Program, Networking, and the Social Media Committees are eager for new members ready to expand on the foundation that has been laid by the members who are engaged and/or have engaged both currently and previously. A committee is just one way to get involved, alternatively be sure to attend our successful and well-planned events.
If there is anything GCHR or I can do to help you, please do not hesitate to reach out for assistance. The GCHR will continue to be a channel for connecting members with resources. Your membership in the GCHR provides unparalleled opportunities to connect with peers, current and prospective business partners. I look forward to meeting you, working with you to grow our knowledge, and continuing to grow our human resources footprint as a whole!
